Weight loss is not linear. Weight seems to fluctuate from day to day and week to week which is why weight loss isn t linear. There are a couple of things to unpack here but let s start with a basic misunderstanding that so many people miss. Fat loss doesn t always mean weight loss.
When weight loss happens the scale does not go down in a linear fashion until you reach your goal weight. The reality is that while operating at a caloric deficit is the way to lose weight that weight does not burn in a linear fashion. It changes because of hormonal fluctuations digestive issues such as being constipated or having an intestinal illness exercise sickness and hydration levels.
Your body weight is not simply the sum of your calories. Losing weight and building muscle is not an easy or neat process. While weight loss seems like it should occur in a straight line unfortunately it doesn t.
